WCT team support the local community!

On 21st June 2024 a team of staff from West Coast Thermal Ltd. spent the day volunteering at Distington Victorian Walled Garden. This was arranged through Jacobs (Wayne Jackson and Steven Mattinson) who WCT are working in collaboration with as part of an ongoing partnership, and Cumberland Council (Sue Pringle and Ingrid Morris).

WCT are delighted to provide this type of support in the local community and the staff on the day thoroughly enjoyed the change to their normal routines. Kaci-Leigh Gaythwaite said, “I enjoyed the practical side of the work as I’m usually office based and the benefits of team building, meeting CSR targets and helping to improve the community garden are all positive factors of the day”.

The team undertook gardening tasks, including weeding mares tail (as weed killers and pesticides are not used for environmental purposes) and revamping the existing garden furniture. Further opportunities will be arranged and the company are not short of volunteers, which may be down to the wonderful cakes, sandwiches and scones available from the garden café!
