Neil Murray

Director

Neil started life as an Apprentice before becoming a qualified Thermal Insulation Engineer in the 1980’s.

Neil quickly progressed to Insulation Supervisor and became a Projects Manager for major insulation project in the 90’s.

When WCT was set up in 2000, Neil became a qualified Asbestos Surveyor and has a dual role now in conducting asbestos surveys and managing large asbestos removal projects pricing right through to project completion.

Barry Graham

Director

Barry, John & Neil established West Coast Thermal Limited in May 2000 after working together for another insulation/asbestos removal company previously for many years.

Barry has worked for several asbestos/insulation companies throughout the country gaining a vast amount of experience within the petrochemical, oil/gas rigs, ship building and nuclear sectors.

Barry is also a qualified Asbestos Surveyor who manages asbestos removal contracts. Barry’s focus is on driving growth & diversity within the company, whilst ensuring the highest quality standards are delivered to consistently maintain client satisfaction.

John Boughey

Insulation Operations Director

John has been involved in the industry since leaving school as a 17-year-old. Over this time he has had experience working within the Nuclear, Pharmaceutical, Food and Commercial Industries.

He has a massive wealth of experience and has seen many changes over the years in the way thermal insulation was perceived, from being a cost saving product to what it has become today having a major impact on environmental issues and reductions.

His current role includes the design of a particular specification to meet client needs, estimating, contract costing, contract control and managing the whole team to produce the quality required of such a specialist industry.

Shane Varty

Divisional Director

Shane has been appointed Divisional Director July 2023.

He commenced with WCT as an Insulation Apprentice in 2009 – during that time he has quickly risen up through the ranks having made the finals of “National Apprentice of the Year” 2 years later. Shane has gained a vast amount of knowledge and skills in sheet metal fabrication and now manages the fabrication Workshop, the fire protection side of the business, as well as the workforce.

Shane’s current role has been expanded to include estimating, site measurement of insulation and fire protection contracts, meeting clients to discuss their requirements and producing all method statements & risk assessments for specific contracts.

Karen Wright

Safety, Health, Environment & Quality Manager

Karen joined WCT in 2022, having 14 years’ experience as a qualified health, safety and environmental professional.

Karen’s 38-year career has been within an industrial setting, particularly managing hazards in the power generation industry.

Karen’s qualifications include a level 6 NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, specialist qualifications in Fire Safety Management, Construction and Design Management, external auditing and training, she is also a Certified Member of IOSH.
